Visit an Art gallery – for older kids a trip to the art gallery can be a great experience and a great day out one on one without younger siblings.

Auckland Art Gallery have the Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera: Art and Life in Modern Mexico, full of bright colours and interesting pieces to highlight Mexico. If you’re in Wellington, the City Gallery has 3 new exhibitions: Martin Basher/Ben Buchanan, Antireality perversion Void, Ana Iti: I must shroud myself in a stinging nettle. You can then walk around the city and enjoy a bubble tea or stop for lunch at one of the many city restaurants.

Visit the beach – A Kiwi Summer always calls for beach time! Did you know we have great parking options close to the beach in Takapuna, perfect to take a picnic to stay for the day.

Visit an escape room – for a rainy-day activity you could do a family escape game. Or take a few friends and compete to see who can escape the fastest.

Explore the cities – the cities can be quiet during the holidays, so it’s a great time to bring out the bikes and explore the streets and parks.

Go to a weekend market – There are so many markets on over Summer with food, crafts, and often live music which the kids will love. This is also a great way to support local businesses.

Go to a water park – Both Silo Park in Auckland or The Margaret Mahy Family Playground in central Christchurch have amazing water play areas for kids – perfect for hot and sunny days. Best of all we have parking close to these parks.

Catch a ferry from Auckland - Did you know we have day and overnight parking available at Princes Wharf close to the ferry terminals in Auckland, this is perfect if you’re taking the kids for a few days to Waiheke or even for a day trip to Rangitoto. You could even to a short trip to Devonport and walk to Cheltenham Beach to see the colourful beachside houses.

Enjoy an outdoor movie – head to Silo Park in Auckland to enjoy a number of outdoor movies or head to movies in the park for movies in the suburbs from January to March.
